JETRO was established in 1958 under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan and currently has 72 representative offices in 55 countries worldwide and 36 local offices in Japan. JETRO is responsible for promoting Japan’s foreign trade and foreign investment activities; supporting external economic activities of small and medium enterprises; collecting and processing information about the economies around the world and conducting researches on developing countries.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Hoang briefly introduced to Mr. Asutsuke Kawada about HANSIBA with its mission of developing supporting industry (SI) in Hanoi in particular and contributing to Vietnam’s economic development in general. He said: "To successfully concretize Vietnam’s Industrialization Strategy in the framework of Vietnam - Japan cooperation toward 2020, vision to 2030, the support from Japanese government will play a particular important role. In addition, to attract more direct investment from Japan, Vietnam has been striving to improve the following three important issues: the first is the policies and mechanisms; the second is the infrastructure and the third is the readiness of Vietnamese enterprises to create joint ventures and cooperation with leading Japanese companies to produce high quality SI products in Vietnam, firstly meeting the domestic need for SI products and then exporting to international markets."
Mr. Asutsuke Kawada confirmed the importance of SI in Vietnam’s socio-economic development and highly recognized HANSIBA’s role in this challenging mission. He said: "JETRO Hanoi’s activities have currently aimed primarily to promote Japan’s direct investment in Vietnam and we have been actively operating in such northern provinces of Vietnam as Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ha Nam, etc. We particularly appreciate Hanoi's investment potentials as well as recent policies to attract FDI; and with our responsibility of a promotion agency of Japan in Vietnam, we are looking forward to cooperating with Hanoi authorities and businesses in attracting Japanese investors in the foreseeable future.
