On the morning of August 7, 2018, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Dr. Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of VCCI had a meeting with Indonesian Ambassador Mr. Ibnu Had. Mr. Nguyen Hoang, Executive member of VCCI, Chairman of N&G Group and HANSIBA was at this meeting.

Dr. Vu Tien Loc informed Ambassador Ibnu Hadi contribution & achievement of VCCI for economy of Vietnam and demands for investment cooperation, linking production and business of enterprises in Vietnam with ASEAN economic community (AEC) in which there are Indonesian businesses. Ambassador Ibnu Hadi said that Indonesian businessmen are increasingly interested in Vietnam because they see the possibility of finding the investment opportunities. Over the years, the cooperation between the two countries has always been improved and upgraded to new levels and higher. As a member of ASEAN, the two countries have many similarities such as large market, high consumption, large population, high demand for shopping; geographically close .... This is the reason for the interest of Indonesian investors in the Vietnamese market. By 2017, Indonesia is the 30th nation among countries and territories invest in Vietnam. Indonesia has great demand for rice, steel and textiles of Vietnam. In contrast, Indonesia has many strengths in paper, electronic goods, chemicals, supporting industries that have good cooperation with Vietnam. Currently, the Indonesia Government is continuing to reform the investment law and policy, set the FDI target from now to 2020 to attract important sectors of the economy (not including oil, gas, finance and bank). Over the past years, Vietnam has had 7 investment projects in Indonesia with a total capital of 106.7 million USD, most of projects are oil, gas and communication projects of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), Vietnam Television Corporation - VTC...This is the foundation for Vietnamese investors to step into the Indonesian market.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang, Chairman of Vietnam Supporting Industries Development Committee - VCCI, Chairman of HANSIBA and N&G Group, suggested that Ambassador Ibnu Hadi continues to promote cooperation between Indonesian enterprises in developing supporting industries, which has great potentials in Vietnam. Mr. Ambassador continues to support two countries’ enterprises to invest in environmental treatments. Currently, N&G Group has cooperated with Indovin Power (a company from Indonesia) to invest in waste-to-energy project in Hanoi.

Ambassador Ibnu Hadi said “Vietnam has a lot of potentials for economic development, especially tourism, agriculture and industry”. As members of ASEAN, Vietnam and Indonesia have many similarities - good income with strong economic growth. We are moving towards industrialization associated with agriculture, fisheries, mining and supporting industry. We have young population, effective workforce, growing markets with significantly improved infrastructure. Two governments have identified each other as important partner and look forward to raising the relationship between the two countries to a new height. Business community of Vietnam and Indonesia pay important role in economic development and prosperity of two countries.
